14. Did we miss your question?

1. What ages is I Spy Fun for?

Our intention is not to limit what we share to specific ages or to make decisions on your behalf. We know every family’s needs differ, so we chose to offer tips and guidance and pictures and leave you to decide what is right for you. Remember, if an activity looks unsuitable when you arrive, just use I Spy Fun to quickly find a nearby alternative!

2. How do you decide which places to write about?

Read ‘Our Story’ to learn more about our story. In short, we search out high quality, 100% FREE activities for families and test them ourselves before putting them on I Spy Fun. Not everything we try makes it on to our website - we focus on 100% FREE activities that we think you’ll enjoy. We don’t get hung up about gift shops, and aren’t being paid to list anything. Ours is a completely unbiased, family view on what we’ve enjoyed - nothing more, nothing less – simple!

3. Tell me more about the degree of wheelchair accessibility indicated on the activities

We have wheelchair users in our family and recognise each wheelchair user’s individual needs differ greatly. Wherever we have listed an activity as ‘wheelchair friendly’, we believed there to be signage for wheelchair accessibility at the activity location, and a hard surface (although it may not be smooth tarmac). In many cases we checked the public website for the activity (we suggest you do too) and spent time researching for activities already judged by others to be suitable for wheelchair users. We suggest (if you can afford the time) you do a quick pre-visit to make sure the activity meets your needs and expectations. Remember, you can always find another nearby activity using I Spy Fun if it turns out the activity isn’t 100% suitable.

4. Does the 'Bicycle' symbol mean there is a cycle path at the activity?

No, it does not. The bike symbol is intended to indicate that we think a confident child could ride their bike there. However paths are not always tarmac, and its not always the case that toddlers with stabilizing wheels would find the activity suitable. For younger children with balance bikes, scooters, or stabilisers – we used the ‘Scooter’ symbol to record activities we thought were compatible.

5. What do you mean by ‘suitable for pushchairs’?

In our opinion, the activity is suitable for an umbrella-style folding pushchair/buggy (e.g. Maclaren), designed to push happily on tarmac, or hard packed stone paths or tracks. Some paths may get muddy at certain times of the year and we have tried to indicate where we think this is likely to be the case.

6. Not all of the activities listed have toilets; why is this?

The majority of activities listed on I Spy Fun have dedicated washroom facilities (as shown under ‘Amenities’ on the activity pages). We have only included ‘stand alone’ toilets, directly associated with the activity reviewed. In some cases, toilets may be available in a nearby café, but as you would need to make a purchase to use them, we do not make reference to them.

7. Why are there no adverts on your site? How do you make money?

We don’t make money - that wasn’t what we set out to do with I Spy Fun. We are not a business, we are a family trying to share what we think others may enjoy. We consider ourselves lucky to live where we do and we ask for nothing in return. But if you find I Spy Fun useful – spread the word using your social networks. Follow us on Instagram, Find us on Facebook, Tweet us on Twitter!

8. Which geographic area does the website cover?

We launched with over 100 activities in the counties of East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton and Hove. Our intention is to expand to other surrounding counties and bring you even more high quality, FREE activities. If you’d like to help us, we’d love to talk to you! Click on Chat to Us.

9. Are the photos representative of the activities?

All the photographs of activities have been taken by us or by members of our family. We’re far from professional photographers, but we thought it would be nice to give you a feel for what you might see along the way.

10. Where does the information about each activity come from?

We personally visit every single activity and decide what you need to know before sharing our thoughts on I Spy Fun. All views are our own – and you may not agree with us (hey we’re all different!). Our overall hope is to inspire you to enjoy hassle-free, fun days out with your loved ones. And, to inspire you to explore by making new things super easy for you!

11. You don’t have many ‘indoor’ activities on your website. Why is this?

None of the activities listed on I Spy Fun have admission charges – our activities are 100% FREE. However the costs of running and maintaining indoor attractions is significant, hence most charge for entry. Small museums in Sussex often house local history displays however we chose not to list them as many are not particularly child / family friendly.

However – our guidance is simple! Take a coat, grab an umbrella and don’t worry about a few drops of water – we’re British after all! Most rain-showers are brief, children love splashing about in puddles and windy weather means funny photos! With a different attitude to weather, we enjoyed new activities every single weekend for months on end. Give it a go - don’t let a few raindrops limit your family!
